You Do Not Have to Wait for the Call to End
Ruse opens the live-call interface as soon as you press Start Prank. You hear a local ringback while the call is dialing, then the live telephone audio begins when the recipient answers.
The listener stream is separate from the phone call itself. Your friend hears the AI character; they do not hear your browser, your voice, or the private instructions you type.

Can you replay the prank afterward?
If optional call recording was enabled during setup and the recording completes successfully, it appears privately in the account’s call history. The player uses precomputed waveform information and streams audio rather than waiting for the entire file to download.
Is there a public recording gallery?
No. Ruse does not publish a public collection of user calls or transcripts. Call history belongs to the authenticated account, and sharing a recording requires the necessary permission.
Live listening versus saved recording
Live listening follows the conversation as it happens and lets the user decide whether to whisper, send a line, or end. A saved recording is optional and appears only after the provider finishes processing it and Ruse stores it successfully. These are separate media paths, so the final recording can remain clean even if browser playback experiences local network issues.

Why do I hear ringback before the phone is answered?
The browser starts a local ringback immediately for clear feedback. It stops when Twilio reports answered, busy, failed, unanswered, or canceled.
Can the recipient hear me listening?
No. The listener audio is one-way to the browser and does not transmit the user’s microphone into the telephone call.
Can I listen without recording?
Yes. Live monitoring and optional stored recording are separate choices in the call flow.
How to follow a live prank call without missing the reaction
Open the live screen before the destination answers and keep the browser active. The dialing state gives way to the connected timer when the call is answered. Listen through headphones if the call should remain private, watch the transcript as a supporting cue, and avoid sending instructions merely to fill a pause. The strongest direction usually reacts to one unexpected detail.
