Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Ruse, an 18+ AI-powered entertainment service for placing harmless calls to adults you personally know.
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By creating an account, buying credits, or using Ruse, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Safety Rules. You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering this agreement. If you do not agree, do not use Ruse.
2. The service
Ruse lets users select a prewritten scenario, provide a recipient’s first name, US or Canadian phone number, and optional context, authenticate an account, and initiate an AI-generated phone call. Each scenario uses a fixed synthetic voice. During a connected call, the initiating user may listen live, privately guide the AI, queue an exact sentence, and end the call. Transcripts and optional recordings may be available after a call when the applicable media policy permits them.
AI output can be inaccurate, unexpected, or different from the script. A recipient may hang up before a reveal. Telecommunications, AI, and payment providers may be unavailable or introduce delays, and Ruse does not guarantee an uninterrupted or error-free call.
3. Your responsibilities and consent
For every call, you represent that you personally know the recipient, the recipient is an adult, the call is for personal non-commercial entertainment, and you have the legal right and all consent required to place an automated or AI-generated call. You are responsible for complying with all applicable calling, disclosure, privacy, and recording-consent laws in your jurisdiction and the recipient’s jurisdiction.
You may not call a person who has asked not to be contacted or whose number is on Ruse’s blocklist. You are responsible for the names, numbers, context, live directions, and exact sentences you submit.
4. Prohibited use
You must not use Ruse for:
- harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, extortion, intimidation, or repeated targeting;
- scams, commercial solicitation, debt collection, coercive requests for money, or collection of financial details;
- password, OTP, authentication-code, identity-document, or other credential collection;
- impersonation of police, government, courts, emergency services, medical professionals, financial institutions, or other authorities;
- false emergencies, threats of violence, or content intended to cause panic or serious distress;
- calls to minors, emergency numbers, crisis lines, premium-rate numbers, or anyone who has opted out;
- unauthorized cloning or impersonation of a real person’s voice;
- telemarketing, political campaigning, unlawful discrimination, criminal assistance, or any illegal activity;
- bypassing rate limits, safety controls, account restrictions, or technical protections.
5. Credits and payments
An eligible new account may receive one lifetime free standard prank credit. Eligibility is limited by account, signed device identifier, IP, and rate controls. Later call credits are non-transferable internal service entitlements. They are not money, have no cash value, cannot be resold, and can only be used inside Ruse. Credit-pack payments are one-time purchases processed by Stripe; Ruse does not store complete payment-card details.
Prank credits may carry different retry policies. Both credit kinds allow up to six attempts. Protected credits refund up to two connected calls ending within 15 seconds; their third connected call consumes the credit. Standard credits, including the lifetime free credit, are consumed by any connected call. Confirmed service failures do not count as attempts. Payment refunds are governed by the Refund Policy.
6. Calls, transcripts, and recordings
Live listening, transcript retention, and stored recording are separate media capabilities controlled by a versioned policy for each call. Recording is optional and must only be enabled when you have obtained all legally required consent from the recipient. Stored recordings remain private to the initiating account and are not publicly shareable through the current service.
Machine-generated transcripts may contain errors. You must not treat them as an authoritative record.
7. Enforcement and account termination
Ruse may reject, end, rate-limit, investigate, suspend, or permanently block calls and accounts when necessary to enforce these Terms, protect recipients, comply with law, or protect the service and its providers. Attempts to evade a restriction may result in immediate termination.
8. Intellectual property
Ruse’s software, branding, scenario catalog, and service materials are owned by or licensed to the operator and protected by applicable law. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service under these Terms. You retain rights in context you submit and authorize Ruse and its processors to process it only as needed to provide, secure, and enforce the service.
9. Third-party services and disclaimers
Ruse depends on services including Supabase, Twilio, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Cloudflare, and Stripe. Their outages, restrictions, or changes may affect Ruse. The service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law, without warranties that every call will connect, follow a script exactly, or produce a particular result.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ruse and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity; or harm arising from a recipient’s reaction, your failure to obtain consent, your directions to the AI, or your unlawful use. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms as the service, law, or provider requirements change. The updated date will appear above. Material changes may also be communicated in the service. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
