What happens during a live prank call?

Ruse places a real outbound call. The AI character hears the recipient's speech through the call system and speaks generated replies. Separately, the browser receives a live listening stream for the host. The transcript records recognized lines and the AI's responses so you can follow what happened. None of that requires the host's microphone to be part of the phone conversation.

If a small group has a temporary invite, friends can hear the live exchange too. That is still a live session, not a permanent copy of the audio. A person who joins late may miss the opening; a person who cannot enable browser sound may see the transcript without hearing the call. A recording is a separate choice made before the call.

When should a prank call be recorded?

Only when the person being called has explicitly consented and recording is permitted under the applicable call policy. If you do not have clear permission, leave recording off and enjoy the live moment instead.

Consent is especially important when the call includes a real voice, a private reaction, or personal details. If you plan to play a clip for other people later, ask about that too. How to find a completed call

After a prank ends, the call can appear in your account's history with its status and transcript. If recording was enabled and the audio file is available, the share or playback experience can present that audio with the associated call. Processing and upload may take a little time after hang-up; the end of the phone call is not necessarily the exact instant a replay file becomes available.

Keep the difference between a call record and a recording clear. A completed call can have history or transcript information without a saved audio file. A busy or unanswered attempt may never have a meaningful conversation to replay. If you expected a recording and do not see one, first check whether recording was actually enabled and allowed for that call.

Do free daily prank calls include recording?

The free daily entitlement determines whether you can place a call; it does not automatically turn recording on. You still need to choose recording in setup and satisfy the consent and policy requirements. Free, paid, and PLUS calls all involve real people, so the same care about audio storage applies regardless of how the call was funded.

Ruse's daily allowance is one call per account, resetting at 5:00 AM Eastern and never accumulating above one. The first daily call follows the protected introductory rules. Later daily calls are spent at dialing start even if no conversation occurs. In that case, there may be little or no meaningful call audio to replay, which is another reason not to equate a daily call with a guaranteed recording.

How to make a recording worth replaying

Choose a premise the recipient can react to quickly. A clear first line gives both the AI and your friend something to build on. Secret Crush might produce an awkward pause and a series of guesses; Pizza Delivery might produce a funny disagreement over an order nobody placed. Let the conversation breathe instead of firing multiple exact lines in a row.

When the person laughs, expresses confusion, or asks an unexpected question, listen. The AI's contextual answer may be the moment everyone remembers. Then reveal the joke while it is still funny. A short, kind ending often makes a better replay than a long call pushed past the recipient's patience. If permission was limited to private playback, keep it private.
